Anne completed the PAR Practitioners Program in the spring of 2025. She is currently (fall 2026) implementing her PAR for the martial arts intervention “From Trauma to Strength,” commissioned by the City of Amsterdam. This intervention is aimed at youth in the juvenile justice system with a history of trauma. In this role Anne, together with fellow Participatory Action Researcher Ruudje Kea, guides all stakeholders, including the youth, trainers, mental health professionals, referrers, and the commissioning party, to work together to further implement and professionalize the intervention.
Anne is a sociologist with a background in practice-oriented research at the intersection of the social and safety sectors. Among other things, she has conducted research on the intergenerational transmission of crime, approaches to domestic violence, and juvenile delinquency. As a researcher and consultant, she has always focused on collaborating with practitioners to gain insights into solutions for complex social issues that truly benefit those on the front lines. Completing the PAR program aligns perfectly with this approach.
Anne currently works as a researcher at the Social Work Research Group at Saxion University of Applied Sciences. There, as part of the “Parenting and Growing Up” program track, she works on projects related to the role of youth work in crime prevention and cross-sectoral collaboration in the field of juvenile delinquency, among other things. She also works as an independent participatory action researcher.
