Famke is an experienced PAR facilitator and founder of the Action Research Company in the Netherlands. She is a certified PAR trainer at SevenSenses. She is the first author of the Dutch book Actieonderzoek; principes voor verandering in gezondheid en welzijn (2017) (Action Research; Principles for Change in Health and Well-being). She facilitates Participatory Action Research (PAR) projects in nursing home settings, hospitals, and local communities, and provides methodological support for a wide range of action research projects as a supervisor/co-promoter and co-facilitator. She also supports the writing of grant applications.
Famke has an extensive national and international network and leads various programs on PAR and practice development. She has a background in healthcare as a nurse and as a health scientist specializing in health education and health promotion. She is an associate professor at Fontys University of Applied Sciences (Eindhoven). In 2013, she completed her PhD at the University of Ulster (UK). Her research focused on systems of support for facilitating action research. She is passionate about using art, creativity, and storytelling in research and practice development.
