In 2016, SevenSenses was three years well underway doing Participatory Action Research in diverse settings resulting in impactful outcomes: co-created action plans aiming to tackle a complex problem. However, we also saw a bottleneck. Sometimes these action plans require financial resources and get stuck in the complex maze of funding.
When the executors of such action plans don’t receive the required funding or have to wait for it for a long time, they often get demotivated. This jeopardizes the vulnerable momentum created during the PAR, i.e. enthusiasm among local stakeholders to tackle the problems together.
In order to prevent action plans from failing due to lagging funding, the SevenSenses Foundation was established in 2016 to provide funds for those action plans as soon as possible after their creation.
Participatory Action Researchers who realize that co-created action plans are at risk of failing due to insufficient or lagging funding, can apply at the SevenSenses Foundation for funding. The SevenSenses Foundation occasionally also funds Participatory Action Research projects, SevenSenses Challenges and other PAR related or PAR-supporting projects.
Do you recognize the above in your PAR project? Don’t hesitate to apply for funding at the SevenSenses Foundation! Send an email to our Secretary Tineke van Pietersom: tineke.vanpietersom@seven-senses.nu and provide:
– a short description your PAR (make sure it complies with the basic principles of PAR),
– the resulted action plans,
– what you need funding for and how much.
You can expect an answer as to whether the board is taking your application in consideration and/or whether further explanation is needed, within two weeks. Depending on the amount requested and scope of proposal, the board will decide within one month onwards.
We hope to hear from you soon!
